About
Rhumbora is a consulting practice led by Vladimir 'Val' Taft (USA) and Ankur Saini (Canada).
We have done the systems work on both sides of the divide: the consulting and vendor side, and the customer side. That experience spans IBM Global Services, Deloitte, Oracle Consulting, and Oracle Cloud. The combined background covers CXO-level and technical consulting, data center migration and provisioning, go-live and hypercare programs, and leading multiple IT organizations in the high-tech industry.
On the Oracle side we managed and executed go-live assurance and hypercare for large enterprise migrations. The revenue protected through that work exceeds the figures already established on those programs, with additional recovery and stabilization delivered on top.
Earlier work includes product-line leadership at a venture-funded startup (later acquired by Tektronix) and leadership of Oracle's AllianceOnline partner channel, recognized with Oracle's Club Excellence.
Our architecture, process-optimization, and transformation methods are not tied to one industry. Where a sector calls for specialized knowledge—such as energy, oil and gas, or industrial operations—we work alongside subject-matter experts in that field.
Cloud work covers the leading hyperscalers. Multiple infrastructure, cloud-architect, and AI-related certifications are held across the team.
Rhumbora combines “rhumb” (a steady navigational course that holds a constant bearing) with “ora.” Oracle is the place where Vladimir and Ankur met and had a chance to work together. The name means charting a clear direction through change—guided by experience, practical judgment, and the use of AI tools where they help without removing accountability.
We use AI tools on the work—briefs, evidence, automation of the repetitive process steps—with a person still accountable for the result. The name Rhumbora reflects the same idea: hold a clear course through changing conditions.
